The Affliction Event scheduled for Oct. 11, 2008 has been canceled.
It looks like Dana White might be right about a bunch of T-Shirt guys trying to run a MMA Promotion company. Affliction stated that they were running into some roadblocks trying to promote a fight in the UFC's home city, Las Vegas. Call me stupid, but if I was starting up a rival MMA Promotion, I don't think I would try to invade the big dog's turf in just our second show. How many favors do you think Dana White pulled in to make sure the T-Shirt guys did not get a warm welcome in Vegas.
Affliction is rescheduling this event for some time in January at the same venue as their first event. The Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. Dana is on record saying that he would be very surprised if Affliction was still promoting after January, so it will be interesting to see if the January event occurs. If Affliction does fold its MMA Promotion business, do you think their T-Shirt business will stay afloat with out the exposure they got from all of the MMA fighters they promoted in the UFC and other events?
