Forrest Griffin vs  Rashad Evans

You can check out the results of this and all the other matches from UFC 92 The Ultimate 2008 here.

This will be Forrest Griffins first defense of the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Most of us thought that it would be against Chuck Liddell, but "Sugar" Rashad Evans changed that when he beat the "Iceman" by way of a devastating KO. It should be an entertaining battle as they both try to impose their game plan on the other.

Forrest will probably follow his tried and trued method of non-stop pressure while trying not to get KTFO'd, like he was in the Jardine fight. It has worked perfectly in his last two MMA fights when he beat the highly regarded Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and the former UFC Lightweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Rampage almost got Forrest with an uppercut, but Forrest was able to shake out the cobwebs before "Rampage" could inflict any more damage.

Rashad Evans fight plan is a little harder to figure out. He was a collegiate wrestler that built his undefeated MMA record using his wrestling skills, but as of late has been doing a lot more stand up. When Rashad goes for a take down, Forrest has an awesome sprawl. If he decides to stand up, Rashad will have to rely on the counter punching skills that he used to defeat Chuck Liddell.

I believe the difference in this fight will be the pace that Forrest will set. Rashad has never been one to push the pace, and has had a tendency to slow down in the later rounds of fights. When he tries to keep up with Forrest, he will wear down sooner and more than usual. When Rashad shoots for a take down, Forrest will block most if not all of them. If Forrest does get taken down, he should be able to handle anything Rashad can throw at him. I predict that Forrest will win in round 4 by a submission on a tired Rashad Evans. Though you still want to watch, because Rashad has shown that he has the ability to end a fight with one punch.
