Thiago Alves vs Josh Koscheck at UFC 90 Silva vs Cote

Thiago Alves is the latest victim of BJ Penn. Thiago should be getting his title shot after destroying his last two opponents. He TKO'd both Karo Parisyan and Matt Hughes. GSP should be fighting Thiago next, instead of BJ Penn, who is just 4-3 when he fights above his natural 155 pound weight class. If BJ does manage to beat GSP, I hope Thiago gets first crack at him at 170 pounds, maybe we could see BJ's first loss by KO.

Lets just say that I have never been a big Josh Koscheck fan, but I am glad he is stepping up and taking this fight on short notice. I wonder if he gets any extra enjoyment knowing that he is replacing Diego Sanchez. In Koscheck's last fight, I thought he looked really good. When Josh got take downs, which he always does, he actually did some nice ground and pound with some viscous elbows. That's why I think Thiago "Pitbull" Alves could be in for a rough night in the octagon.

Matt Hughes was able to take down the "Pitbull", he just couldn't keep him down. I think if Josh gets the take down, he will be able to keep Thiago there and punish him. Thiago also didn't make weight for the Matt Hughes fight, so he could over train coming into this one to make sure he is on weight. We all know Josh has great cardio, that is how he won so many decisions with his old boring take you down and ride you fighting style.

When they are on their feet, Thiago should have an advantage. The "Pitbull" has ended his last five MMA fights by TKO/KO in the second round. Josh needs to get this fight to the ground and keep it there. I expect Thiago to win this one, but Josh has a real good shot at it also. If this fight takes place on the ground or Thiago gasses, Josh "Kos" Koscheck will win. If we are lucky enough to see a stand up battle, then Thiago should make his prediction of a KO victory come true.
