UFC 89 Bisping vs Leben Re-cap
Paul "Telly" Kelly vs Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis
Round 1:
Lots of back and forth with Davis landing some nice body kicks. Davis gets a take down and moves for the full mount, but Kelly escapes and they end the round on their feet. Davis wins the first round on my card.
Round 2:
Kelly comes out throwing a lot more punches, but not many are landing. Kelly gets a big take down. Davis works for a guillotine choke and gets it. Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis wins by submission.
Paul "Relentless" Taylor vs Chris "Lights Out" Lytle
Round 1:
They both come out throwing bombs and landing. Lytle gets a nice take down, but Taylor stands right back up. An action filled round with Lytle landing lots of body shots. Taylor was landing lots of short elbows when they were against the cage, giving Lytle history of cuts I was surprised he did not get cut.
Round 2:
They come out throwing bombs again. Lytle lands some big shots and takes down Taylor. Taylor gets back up and gets a take down off his own. The action is stopped when Lytle catches an inside leg kick to the groin. A good round, Lytle was looking tired near the end of the round and Taylor started to take control of the fight.
Round 3:
Lytle started landing some huge punches. Taylor has an amazing chin. Lytle looks tired after beating on Talyor's head for about 20 seconds. Lytle gets a take down, both fighters look tired. Taylor gets back to his feet, and lands some big punches and kicks to end the third round.
Chris "Lights Out" Lytle wins by unanimous decision.
"The African Assassin" Sokoudjou vs Luiz "Banha" Cane
Round 1:
Sokoudjou looked very impressive in the first round . He hit Cane with everything, but Cane was still standing and Sokoudjou started to look tired at the end of the round.
Round 2:
The second low blow off the night is landed by Luiz Cane. Sokoudjou has slowed down, but is still picking his times to explode with kicks. Luiz starts to land some shots. Lands a huge left hand after a knee to the head that knocks Sokoudjou down and beats on him until the ref stops it for the TKO victory.
Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine vs Brandon "The Truth" Vera
Round 1:
Jardine shoots for a take down and gets it. Vera works for a chimura. Jardine is cut on the top of his head. Vera lands some nice elbows from the bottom. The ref stands them back up and they trade kicks and punches and they both get rocked and knocked down. What a great round.
Round 2:
They trade shots and Vera stuffs a Jardine take down. Vera catches one of Jardines kicks and takes him down. Jardine gets back up and they resume trading shots. Brandon was landing some nice leg kicks to the body at the end of the round.
Round 3:
Jardine comes out aggressive, but Vera is landing some nice kicks. Jardine works for a take down, and Vera stops it. They trade shots until the end of the round. Jardine landed a flurry of puches in the last 10 seconds.
Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine wins by split decision.
Michael "The Count" Bisping vs Chris "The Crippler" Leben
Round 1:
Leben starts landing some nice leg kicks. Bisping starts landing some nice combinations and jabs. Leben stays aggressive and Bisping counter punches.
Round 2:
Much like the first round. Bisping is using his quickness to stay out of the way of most of Leben big punches. Leben lands some leg kicks and drops his hand at the end of the round trying to get Bisping to brawl. Leben is starting to get lumpy.
Round 3:
The first part of the round was like the first two round. Leben shoots for a take down and got it. Bisping continues to counter punch while Leben looks to land a big left. At the end of the fight Leben gives Bisping some free shots, and he still didn't go down.
Michael "The Count" Bisping wins by decision.
