Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine

The Main Event at UFC 96 really doesn't live up to Main Event status. Keith Jardine has proven that he was not blessed with a chin. Jardine has lots of talent, heart, and a funky style that is hard for other fighters to match, but not a chin. Keith's only shot at a victory is if the fight is very similar to his fight with Chuck Liddell.

The big problem with that, is the fight won't go that way. Chuck was coming off of a KO loss, and was really gun shy about pulling the trigger. Rampage is coming off of an impressive KO victory, and will be looking to end this early. The quicker Rampage KO's Jardine, the faster he gets a title shot.

The only thing that Rampage has to worry about are leg kicks. In his loss to Forrest, one leg kick changed that fight. Jardine has better leg kicks than Forrest, and if Rampage has not learned to block them, he could end up losing by decision. In that case, we get to watch Rampage try to chase down Jardine, while eating a steady diet of low leg kicks. Not exactly Main Event stuff there to me.

On the other hand, you should have Rampage KO'ing Jardine in the first round. It will be an impressive win, but that is what is supposed to happen. I think the Main Event at any UFC needs a little more suspense than that.
